Whitby Lit Fest Venue Information
Whitby Lit Fest is using the venues below to host our 2026 Festival. We have provided very basic information, and then linked to the individual venue websites where you will be able to find more specific accessibility information and the contact details for the venues, should you need to speak to anyone about your requirements.

Whitby Pavilion
Whitby Pavilion is located on Whitby’s West Cliff. It can be accessed via steps from the cliff-top car park, or via the Theatre or Cafe entrances (both of which provide disabled access), at the bottom of the slope (with additional car parking) which leads down towards the beach. Once inside the building all facilities are on the same level. There is a cafe and bar at this venue. There are toilets at this venue.
The Pavilion is home to both the Theatre and the Northern Lights Suite, both of which are being used to host a variety of events at Whitby Lit Fest 2026.

Eighteen91
Eighteen91 is located on Brunswick Street in the centre of town. It is accessed via steps or the accessible side entrance. There is no parking available at this venue, and the footpaths outside are quite narrow. We will prioritise the use of the downstairs space, although some events will also require the use of the upstairs seating. This venue operates a bar and coffee shop. There are toilets at this venue.

The Coliseum Centre
The Coliseum Centre is situated in the centre of town, near the bus station. There is no parking available at this venue. The Coliseum is accessed via short flight of steps, or accessible ramp at the front of the building. The venue will be set up with raked seating, although there will also be seating at floor level for anyone with accessibility needs. There are toilets at this venue.

Flowergate Hall
Flowergate Hall is accessed via a passageway off Flowergate, to the immediate left of the United Reformed Church. Access into the building is via a flight of stairs, down to the lower ground floor level. There is a stair lift. This venue operates a small cafe and a bar will also be available during Festival events. There is no parking at this venue. There are toilets at this venue.

Whitby Library
Whitby Library is hosting our workshops. The Library is in the centre of town, next to the train station. It is accessed via a flight of stairs or wheelchair accessible ramp. Inside there is another flight of stairs and a lift to the first floor which is where the workshops will take place. There are toilets at this venue.

Whitby Museum
Whitby Museum is located in the centre of Pannett Park. There are four extra-wide parking spaces for blue badge holders at this venue, with additional on-street parking just outside the park on St Hilda’s Terrace and Chubb Hill. This venue is home to both the Normanby Room and the Museum Library, which will both be used to host Whitby Lit Fest events. There are toilets at this venue.

Jet Black Jewel
Is a cafe bar on Skinner Street in the centre of Whitby. It will be used for a couple of our smaller sessions. Access is at ground floor level from the street, although there are some steps inside the building. There is some on-street parking nearby, but beware of time limits and disc zones. There are toilets at this venue.
